Joseph N. Tilem is a Partner of Dawson Tilem & Gole. He graduated in 1949 from University of California at Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and in 1952 obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree also from UCLA. He is a graduate of the New York State Maritime Academy, Merchant Marine officer and officer in the United States Naval Reserve. He is married to Jean Berenson Tilem.

Mr. Tilem brings to the firm over fifty years of experience. He is admitted to practice before all Courts of the State of California, United States District Court, Central District of California and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Tilem specializes in all aspects of real property law, including land/use and zoning, commercial and residential real estate transactions and administrative law. He is former Vice President of the Diners Club and Vice President and General Counsel of Carte Blanche Corporation; Director of First Beverly Bank; and Director of Woodland Savings and Loan Association.

Mr. Tilem is a well respected and distinguished community leader. His activities:

  • Mayor - City of Beverly Hills in 1978.
  • Served on City of Beverly Hills Council from 1976 to 1980.
  • Chairman and member of General Plan Revision Committee - 1978 and 2005.
  • Former Chairman and member of the Board of Directors, Exceptional Childrens Foundation.

  • Member Beverly Hills Rotary Club.
  • Former President of the Beverly Hills Municipal League.
